Vodacom blocking OTPs
For almost 2 years I have been having issues with not receiving various OTP's by SMS for multiple other sites and services, most recently it has been Vodacom's own site I don't receive it for. I have contacted them repeatedly to resolve the issue, I follow all the suggestions of checking blocked numbers, trying a different SMS app, trying a different phone, confirming SMS center number, etc. The common denominator is Vodacom, the problem will go away for a week or two then just comeback till I call support again, even PayPal support has told me I should not use a Vodacom number for their OTP as Vodacom has been unreliable for delivering OTPs.

09 Feb 2026, 15:262 months on and once again I am not receiving OTPs to Vodacom, Webafrica, PayPal or Microsoft, on my Vodacom number, this is is unacceptable and will now be seeking legal advice on how to deal with this pathetic excuse of a company further and how to terminate my contract for breach of terms from Vodacom's side as well as address me being denied access to funds on PayPal due to not receiving the OTP I need as a consequence of their buffoonery.....

Our SMS Support teams have been in contact with PayPal, and it was confirmed that the OTP SMS from their system does not reach the Vodacom SMS Centre. As this is the case, Vodacom cannot investigate or resolve this issue as it resides on their platform. Another indication of this, is that you can receive normal sms.
You may try the below steps as a work around to receive the otp's:
Go to paypal.com, by default it should revert to /za/ and show SA badge at bottom of page, then click on the badge at the bottom and switch to UNITED STATES, then click login, now on user/password page, you should see US flag at bottom, log in, send code, and code will be sent.
