Vodacom blocked me for calling to sort out money that they erroneously said I owed
Summary: Previous Vodacom RED client, contract ended 2019. The payments would come off as debit orders and I never missed a single one. Continued with a prepaid number after the contract ended.
2 years later, I try to sign up for a new Vodacom contract online, received a call to continue the process which failed because I was deemed prelagal ***ing money to Vodacom) which is extremely strange to me as Vodacom debited me monthly and decided what to take from my account.
I was put through to legal who advised me that I owed R23,00 in error and they would rectify it, with a waiting time of 2 - 5 hours.
I called the next day only to be told that the status had not changed. Essentially this led to a back and forth of calling legal then calling the online contract department - often, after going though the IVR the call would drop, any transfer between departments basically resulted in the same thing.
Yesterday when I called, the IVR system told me that they have detected a high volume of calls from my number, my cell number had been blocked.
Highly frustrated at the situation and also seriously concerned about my credit rating if I apparently owed R23,00 for the last 2 years - which I did not.
I guess the moral of the story here is that you really have to double check Vodacom yourself if you have a contract and it ends, perhaps get proof that you are really in the clear. Oh and don't phone too much to try and sort out your issues... because you will be blocked.
