Vodacom Black Friday Deal Not Honoured – CPA Sections 47 & 54
I am extremely disappointed with Vodacom’s handling of my Black Friday upgrade.
On 26 November 2025, I signed up in-store for a specific Black Friday deal on the Honor 200 Pro at a fixed promotional price. Vodacom accepted my upgrade fee, issued a signed and stamped receipt, and confirmed that I would be contacted within a week to collect the device as stock was awaited.
After following up a week later, and after many unsuccessful attempts to reach the consultant, I was eventually advised that Vodacom could no longer source the device. I was then offered completely different deals at higher prices, which I refused, as I signed up for a specific Black Friday deal that was valid at the time. Despite me clearly stating that I do not consent to cancellation, I was later informed that the store cancelled the contract without my consent. I also received conflicting information from Vodacom customer care, including an SMS referencing a “Samsung activation” that Vodacom later confirmed does not exist on my account.
I have made multiple calls to Vodacom customer care and escalated to management, but received no written confirmation, missed commitments, and inconsistent feedback. One manager even refused to confirm a promised callback via email.
This matter is not only about the device — it is about the deal and package signed at a specific price during the Black Friday promotional period. Vodacom accepted payment and concluded the agreement, yet failed to honour it.
I believe Vodacom’s conduct violates the Consumer Protection Act, Section 47 (accepting payment without intention or ability to supply) and Section 54 (failure to provide timely and proper service).
I am requesting that Vodacom: Honour the original Black Friday agreement as signed, or Provide an equivalent or higher-value device on the same price and contractual terms, in line with the CPA.
All supporting documentation is available, including proof of payment, signed receipt, contract/quotation, call logs, emails, and messages.
I hope Vodacom will resolve this matter urgently and professionally.
I am available to engage and will gladly provide any required documentation.
I look forward to being contacted with a clear resolution to this matter.

I have still not been contacted as advised. This matter has been escalated multiple times via customer care, management, and email, with no resolution or feedback.
I request urgent contact with a clear resolution. Failing this, I will proceed with formal escalation to the NCC and ICASA.

I acknowledge that the matter is currently being handled by the HelloPeter Team.
I have been provided with a reference number (EC-21Y6-12HFLL) and will await feedback as advised.
I trust that this investigation and escalation will lead to a resolution in line with the original agreement and applicable consumer protection legislation.

Despite this, Vodacom is now refusing to honour the upgrade after multiple internal escalations, including FSC involvement, and is attempting to rely on “subject to stock” after payment and confirmation were already given.
Since a lawful resolution could not be concluded during the time of the deal, THIS IS A VODACOM ISSUE!
As no lawful resolution has been provided, I am proceeding with third-party escalation to the National Consumer Commission.
