Vodacom billing me on contract after contract had expired and switched over to pre-paid

My contract has expired, and a few months after it expired, I switched over to prepaid. The vodacom consultant deleted the number instead of porting it. After having to fight to get the number reinstated (on prepaid) vodacom started to bill me and withdraw the money from my account as If I still was on contract.

Way to go vodacom - is this the way you are treating contract costumers after they switch to prepaid?

(the background)

I had a Vodacom contract since about 2003 and was a very loyal customer of Vodacom. Because I closed my business I decided to cut down on my expenses and go from contract to prepaid. In February 2016 I phoned to make this change and spoke to Joslin. She however did not change it but delete my number. So, for the whole of March I could not phone anybody, nobody could phone me, I could not use my bank accounts if I wanted to do online shopping because my ….number was send to my cell phone number which was now deleted. I went to the local Vodacom shop and they told me that they could not help me because I was on 3D/G and their systems could not pick up on my number. After a few phone calls and emails send to Moos King he said that I have to do a sim swap which I did but it still did not work. At the end of March a payment went off without me having any service. At the end of April no payment went off but my phone was still off. My husband went and bought another sim card and phoned Vodacom to do a sim swap. Then, the phone worked again but on prepaid as I wanted. At the end of May another payment went off, then again in June. I went back to the Vodacom shop because I could net get any help from the call centre. Ntabi at the Vodacom shop then put me through to somebody from the call centre and she admitted that Vodacom made a mistake and that the debit order will be cancelled and I will be refunded. At the end of July no payment went off but I still was not refunded. Suddenly in September I received a call that I am behind on my payments and that I am going to be handed over to the attorneys. My husband spoke to Xolile and explained to him that we have asked for the debit order to be cancelled because I am on prepaid.

We also told him that they do NOT have authorisation for a debit order, as vodacom owes me money, not the other way round

The next thing I saw they re-instated the debit order and 3 payments went off at once.
