VODACOM- BILLING ME FOR NOTHING(dololo)

I was offered a phone by Elite mobile which is the sales segment of Vodacom. I was offered a phone on the call but when I received my order it was a tablet. I realized this after the delivery people had left. I called Elite mobile to tell them that I have received a tablet instead of a phone as per the sale. I did not have enough time to talk on the phone I told them that I would call the next day. I called the following day and asked for the device and sim card to be cancelled as I was not satisfied with the tablet(this was within 7 days of receiving the order). The device and everything in the box was collected and taken back. I then called to find out if they had received the order back, Elite mobile confirmed that the device and all had been received. I then received a bill from Vodacom, I called Vodacom to enquire why they were billing as the device and all was received back by Elite mobile. Vodacom informed me to call Elite mobile as they had to send details of the cancellation. I am been transferred from pillar to post. Elite mobile says that they followed the process ,as soon as the device and sim was received Vodacom was supposed to automatically cancel the order. Vodacom says that Elite mobile was suppose to send a request. Elite mobile says Vodacom received the request and confirmed that the contract was cancelled. I am now receiving Final demand letters from Vodacom requesting for a subscription fee amount of a product that I do not have nor ever used, and do not even know the cellphone number of that device. I did not opened the sim card or even switch on the phone. What exactly am I being billed for?
