Vodacom billing for number not visible on account or app

I am extremely frustrated with how this matter has been handled by Vodacom.

I specifically moved my number to prepaid and then app**** for a Vodacom contract in order to receive proper monthly invoices for work-related claims. The Vodacom app makes it difficult to claim prepaid expenses, which is why I deliberately chose a contract option.

A contract number is now being billed on my account, however this number has never been visible or accessible on my Vodacom profile or mobile app. This means I had no way to manage, monitor, or even properly identify the service.

Despite this, I am being billed for the number.

This matter was escalated to ICASA under reference GAU013490/25, which was incorrectly marked as resolved without addressing the core issue. I responded requesting clarification, but no further feedback was provided.

The core concern remains unanswered: How is it possible for Vodacom to bill a customer for a number that does not appear on their account or app?

For clarity:

The number appears on my bill The SIM was never in my possession The number is not visible on my Vodacom app or account profile I specifically took out a contract to ensure proper billing and visibility for claims

This is not just a billing dispute — it is a failure of account visibility and service management.

I request that Vodacom:

Provide a clear explanation of why the number was never linked to my account profile/app Confirm how I was expected to manage a service that was not visible to me Resolve the billing accordingly

This matter has dragged on for far too long without proper resolution.

Thank you for the response. I have now visited a Vodacom store as advised. At the store, it was confirmed that they can only perform a SIM swap on the new number that Vodacom issued under the contract. They are unable to link or move the contract to my existing number. This clearly confirms that the issue is not related to a SIM swap, but rather that the contract was set up on a separate number which was never properly linked to my account/profile. I have no interest in using a new number. I have been using my current number since 1998, and the intention was for the contract to apply to this number. I was further advised to cancel the contract in order to resolve the issue, which is not acceptable, as it would result in penalties for a problem caused by Vodacom. I require Vodacom to provide a proper resolution to:
  • Correctly link or migrate the contract to my existing number
  • Do so without any financial prejudice to me
At this stage, the matter remains unresolved.
