Vodacom Bad Service
My name is Dr Nomathamsanqa Mathebula,I actually rate Vodacom Nelspruit -100%. I am an Anaesthetist based in Nelspruit.Lat year on the 14th of April i went to the vodacom store in Riverside mall to convert my prepaid number to the Executive Sim only package. The consultant who assisted me advised me that i had accumulated a lot of talking points which had to be redeemed before converting the number from prepaid to contract. He gave two handsets, a Vodaphone and Iphone 6. I have the vodaphone to my aunt and she started using it immediately and she is still using it and has not given her any problems. I kept the iphone 6 sealed in the original packaging as i only intended to give it to my son when he turned 11 and give it to him with an Apple watch. On the 16/7/30 my son turned 11 and we went to the ilanga mall Apple store to have the brand new iphone 6 which was still sealed in the original packaging to be synchronized. I was saddened and disappointed when the Apple technician advised me that theres something wrong with the phone as it wont turn on though he tried charging it. He advised me to take the handset to the vodacom store at ilanga mall, on arrival at the vodacom the technician informed me that there is not much he can do as the device is out of warranty and that i should have opened the device in the riverside branch before going home or atleast should have opened it before 14/4/2020.I advised him that the phone was kept for my son and that it never crossed my mind that the handset could be faulty as i have exclusively bought Apple products as soon as they were made in South Africa and none of them gave problems and i have bought Apple products for siblings and my children were all bought at the various Apple stores and none have problems and we even pass them to others or trade them in. He advised me to take the handset to the Nelspruit branch where their technicians are based. The phone was taken in and after a week the vodacom technician called and told me that he thinks the LCD is faulty and that i should pay in R2000 for him to repair if the LCD or alternatively he would send the handset to the Vodacom Midrand branch and i would then most likely pay R6500 for a replacement unit.i dont understand why i have to pay anything for a device that probably has a factory fault and was taken back to vodacom brand new and they have proven that it has never been used and yet i must pay for the repairs or replacement unit.i am very angry that i am being and penalized for something that is not my fault. It was the Vodacoms consultants responsibility to open the device and check if its if its working before i left the Nelspruit riverside branch. How could i have forseen that the phone is faulty when all my other Apple products have never given me problems. I am of the opinion that vodacom doesnt value their clients and im happy to take my business elsewhere and terminate my data contract and cellphone contract with immediate if vodacom doesnt value their clients and im happy to take my business elsewhere and terminate my data contract and cellphone contract with immediate effect if they continue with this nonsense. This is very disppointing as i have been a loyal client for 14 years.
Please note that i haven't received a call from Vodacom since i complained. I am truly unsatisfied.
