Vodacom Bad Practices

In March 2024, I was sold a Home Internet data package by Vodacom. A few weeks of using the product, I started experience connection problems, where internet access would be on and off and different times of the day, and sometimes more off than on. I contacted Vodacom customers service department and, after doing some remote tests, I was assured that there is no physical problem with network connection. The problem persisted for most part of last year and late in the year I was told that my 4-year-old route was the cause of the problem., I needed to replace it. I duly bought a new router but the problem persisted. Then I was told the problem is with the SIM card, I needed a SIM-swap. I did that, but the problem did not go away. Eventually, someone said the Home Internet package requires a specific router, the one I own is not suitable. On 28 February this year, I went to a Vodacom branch in Durban and requested a change of the package because then everybody agreed that it was the source of the problem. I was quotes and signed a 24-month contract for a 100GB Top Up Data at R329 per month. Came a few days later I received an invoice for R414,13, a whooping 26% increase. When I queried this, I was told that the package went up by 10% from 1 March, but no one can explain why it is not R362.00, the actual amount after the increase. They also tried to throw the terms and conditions scare, which state that Vodacom has the right to change a contract. After all this, Vodacom has not owned up and apologized for bad sales practices and putting me through hell in the last 12 months.

Reviewer Update
The increase on my data contract was 26%, from R329 to R414. Vodacom must address that.
