Vodacom auto-renewed my data contract and have now sent debt collectors on me.

I’ve been trying to inform Vodacom that I don’t want my old data contract renewed since May of this year as I am now based in the U.K. Despite trying to email Vodacom’s email address for cancellations about this matter on numerous occasions. I can’t phone Vodacom’s customer care number myself as I’m not going to pay international mobile fees to sit on hold. I’ve even gotten my brother to hold up his mobile phone while I spoke to a consultant about this via loudspeaker. Despite informing customer service of my request, Vodacom simply ignored it. Now my account has been referred to an aggressive debt collection company who I can only contact via WhatsApp, because I’m in the U.K. And like Vodacom, despite speaking to an agent earlier this week, I’ve just received another threatening email from them telling me that I have been ignoring them and that I am to be prosecuted with all the damage to my credit record that implies. All of this for R400 when Vodacom systematically makes it impossible to contact them about cancellations and non-renewals. This is unacceptable and legally dubious. This is the second time I’ve had this problem with Vodacom as I had to complain here to get anybody from Vodacom to contact me about cancelling the renewal of my talk contract last year. Besides leaving this review, I will be making complaints about Vodacom and the debt collectors they use to the relevant ombudsman.

Thank you for getting back to me. I’ll await the email from Vodacom although I’ve not yet received an email so far.
