Vodacom asking ridiculous verification questions to do a SIM swop for a prepaid number
I wish I didn't have to give them any star rating. My son's cell phone was ****** over the weekend, so we reported that to Vodacom because you need a ITR (or whatever its called) number and then go to the Police with that number. While on the call with the Vodacom agent she asked if I want to lock the SIM card as well, and she explained that it is the safer thing to do. Now here starts all the damn ****. I go to a Vodacom shop to go buy my son a new SIM card but we first need to have the number unlocked now. The helper at the Vodacom shop in Rosebank asked my son for 5 numbers of people he called, so we say to her his phone has been ****** and he doesn't know the numbers out of his head (he only has his parents numbers, but no that's not good enough). She replies but sorry we can't help you then, or you must call Vodacom Customer Service (THE MOST USELESS CALL CENTER I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS), they then ask him the following dumb verification questions, 1. When last did you buy any airtime and how much did you spend we rep**** by looking at my Online banking history and we give them them the amount, we even tell them how much data was bought recently, the call centre agent tells me oh you must not answer things we don't ask because it will be noted as incorrect answers (I mean what the hell) 2. Next dumb question - when last did you play the Shake competition have you played it in the last seven days That question is also answered - my son told them that he hasn't played it in the last seven days 3. And another strange question - have you bought advanced airtime (what THE F is that) Anyway he answered he hasn't or doesn't know what that is
They tell him to hold on and then comes back with a sorry you answered all the questions incorrectly sorry we can't help you.
WHAT THE F8CK ????
He now can't do a SIM swop and get his old number back - all his 2FA now will need to be redone with a new number. I can guarantee you that it won't be with a Vodacom number. No man this is so utterly ****** ridiculous - who is the IDIOT that came up with these stupid questions as security verification ??? Why the f*CK do we do RICA then ? why not ask for ID, utility bill, proof of banking, those types of questions to validate you are who you say you are??? can someone very high up with a brain please look into this messed up verification questions. Who the heck will remember off hand 5 numbers of people and or remember all those other stupid questions.
