Vodacom, as usual *****ing.

Since the implementation of ICASA's new data rules, the MANDATORY requirement was that data usage should be cut off once bundles are depleted. I have not opted in to out of bundle data usage and yet my airtime was still taken for data costs. Upon emailing Vodacom customer services back and forth, the only thing they have been able to tell me was to "opt in" to out of bundle data lock. Upon checking this, I saw that the only option was to opt out of this out of bundle data lock. I presume this means that my data is supposed to be AUTOMATICALLY cut off once my bundle is depleted, according to rules stipulated by ICASA. Unfortunately Vodacom is unwilling to help me in resolving this issue. I am a student and cannot afford to spend hundreds a month on airtime that gets used for data, I have a WiFi router for this and the only reason my mobile data is switched on is because I purchase the WhatsApp bundle for a month which allows my WhatsApp messages to come through when data is off. Vodacom themselves responded with an email replying, and I quote, "Please be advised that if the customer does not opt in to an out of bundle data charge, then We cannot allow any out of bundle data usage until the customer buys a new data bundle or consents to be charged out of bundle rates via USSD, sms push notification.A customer who has not opted in, will be blocked the moment they run out of data until they choose an option."

How now, does this help me when I've explicitly stated that I DID NOT opt in to out of bundle charge, as I have been communicating back and forth over 3 emails and they send me the same thing each time????. Going to report to ICASA, hopefully a better resolution is reached. Vodacom, you are *******, fullstop.
