Vodacom are you desperate for money?

My one contract with Vodacom Waterfront ended on 3 October. I had given more than a months notice that I wanted the contract to be cancelled and replaced with a pre-paid contract until such time as I decided what phone I wanted and what contract. I was definitely going to take out the new contract with that Vodacom store, however when I went into the store on the 2nd, I told them that I would continue with a similar package I was on until month end, however how much would it be. The prepaid amount would have been approximately R300.00 a month, which was in line with MTN and CellC. I was however told, that the old package had already been loaded, please note this was the 2nd of the month, and as such I would be charged about R850.00. (My monthly account was about R2250.00 with the phone.) I stated that I thought that was totally unacceptable, however I was basically told 'too bad so sad.'. I obviously have accepted that, however will of course never deal with that Vodacom outlet again. I am not sure if this is a 'own owned' Vodacom store or a franchise. It will be interesting to find out.
