Vodacom are *********, greedy and dishonest.
On the 16th of April 2021 I phoned the number *** to change my contract on my cellphone to prepaid as I am leaving the country soon for work and will have no further need of a contract. On the same day and in the same phone call (I spoke to a gentleman named Thabo) I also cancelled the ****le I had purchased along with a laptop contract in 2015. I had phoned to cancel it once before in 2018 and the cancellation never went through. Thabo successfully cancelled my cellphone contract and switched it to prepaid, and I even received a confirmation email confirming such. However I never received an email confirming that the ****le had been cancelled. At the end of April when Vodacom still deducted the fee for the ****le, I left it as I figured I had cancelled it too late, and this would be the last month there would be a deduction for it. At the end of May however, Vodacom deducted this amount AGAIN. I phoned *** once again on the 31st of May, and this time spoke to a lady. I repeated the whole story to her and asked again for the ****le to be cancelled. She tried repeatedly to persuade me to keep it, or to transfer it over to someone else. I firmly refused, requested again that it be cancelled, and asked for the money that had been taken out of my account to be refunded as they could listen to the recordings of the call I had with Thabo and confirm that I had indeed asked him to cancel that contract. After much argument she finally assisted and confirmed that the ****le had been cancelled once and for all, and that she had sent the refund request to her manager who would contact us. We never heard from anyone again, and the refund was never provided. As a small step in the right direction, the ****le was removed from my Vodacom app, so I know it is no longer working. However, at the end of June Vodacom had the audacity to not only deduct the amount for the ****le again, but actually deduct more than usual. I went onto my FNB app and reversed the transaction, as well as blocked Vodacom from making any more deductions. Not only have I cancelled this ****le THREE times, but there is a refund still due to me that has never been paid and yet they want to deduct more. Then today on the 5th of August 2021 I have now received an Outstanding Account Warning Letter advising me I have 7 days to pay the amount of R320.88 or my account will be handed over to the pre-legal department. This is unacceptable not to mention *******, and I expect Vodacom to rectify this immediately.
