Vodacom - Are they *****ing my data?
I have been utilising the services of Vodacom for the last 10 years... and am extremely unhappy with the current level of expertise and service. In our family we hold 3 accounts with Vodacom and have been loyal customers - but the service we have experienced recently is upsetting to the point of cancelling all ties with Vodacom.
The main issue is that data is going missing and Vodacom seems to have no explanation for this?? 1G was purchased on Wednesday and on Friday it was gone. With no exorbitant download sessions - this data is used on a PC for emails mainly. We phoned customer care and they could not assist because their server was down?? How comforting is it to know that a nationwide service provider can't assist because their server is down! The consultant phoned back later and loaded another 1G and advised that they would phone back on the following Monday... we are still waiting for that call. Logged onto my emails for maybe 45 minutes and then on Monday morning the data was gone again. Contacted the call centre again (Reference number for the call - 1- ********** ********** ) and they said they would log a call. I then bought another 1G and no surprise it was depleted in no time again. Made another call (Reference number - 1 c3edsvs10) and they advised that i should go to a customer service centre to restrict the automatic downloading on my PC. (Strange though, that this has always been on, and my data has never been depleted like this??) They changed my wifi to a modem and after the change was done had around 500mg left so i went on my emails to check them and the 500mg was depleted once again. Bought another 1G.
Please note than in a period of 4-5 days i have had to purchase approximately 4G of data and then i receive the below sms from Vodacom: "Dear customer as per your reference 1- ********** ********** , failure to install a data monitoring app will prolong your struggle to understand what is using your data. Vodacom does not record the content of your connections, only the volumes of data sent and recevied via your device. Kindly consider installing a data monitoring application from your appstore which will record your usage as well as help you identify background activity and programs using your data. Have a pleasant day further!"
PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW THIS RESOLVED MY QUERY!!
It is expressed that it is my fault that my data is running out (all of a sudden) because i don't have an APP that monitors data usage but yet i never had to install this APP before because the data was not going missing. My internet sessions have not changed in length and this data is used on my PC for work emails only. I must then purchase more data to download another APP to monitor data usage, and those stats will supposedly help me identify where my data is going but it will not resolve the issue of 4G going missing?? And then Vodacom (my service provider that i pay for) tells me they do not monitor how and when the data is used?? That is absurd!!
I am not an unfair customer, all i was wanting was an answer from Vodacom as to where my data had gone - not an excuse saying it is because I have not downloaded an APP monitoring program. Why would I need this APP if my data was not going missing?? And please explain why this APP was not needed a year ago when my internet usage has not increased??
Seems to me like Vodacom is making it easy for people to deal data from other users or possibly even be part of this ****?? Not even having a system to monitor data usage - what am I paying Vodacom for exactly if not to be my service provider and provide me with service??
I demand answers as this is not the only time Vodacom has done this - I have spoken to numerous Vodacom customers who are unhappy with the data usage and explanation for where it is going??
