Vodacom apparently not interested in servicing (small) businesses
I have had a personal cell phone account with Vodacom for about 15 years. During this time the service has been excellent. We recently decided to transfer our personal cell phone accounts into the name of our business and there has been nothing but trouble and confusion ever since.
We app**** on 12 October 2018 at a Vodacom store for the accounts to be transferred. Apparently, this requires the accounts first to be moved onto Vodacom's old system, which can take up to two months. Only then can the accounts be transferred into the name of the business.
By the beginning of January this year (2019) there was no sign of progress. Trying to speak to anyone at Vodacom to get help was virtually impossible. All they could say was that I must speak to the people at the store where I app**** for the transfer. The people at the store, in turn, were frustrated because they were waiting for Vodacom and could do nothing themselves. I was eventually able to speak to a supervisor in the business department, and he promised to sort the problem out, but after one phone call I didn't hear from him again.
My number was eventually transferred to the business, but apparently my wife's number was made into a prepaid number and now there is a dispute between Vodacom and the store as to whose fault it was. Even if this were to be sorted out today, it could be almost six months before the payments are made from the business account.
I have been trying to find an email address or phone number of a senior person at Vodacom, but it seems that Vodacom is determined to prevent this. There is no practical method given on the website of sending an email, no way to phone anyone other than first level support.
As much as I have been pleased with the service I received from Vodacom as an individual client, it seems that Vodacom is not interested in servicing businesses — at least not small businesses.
Thank you for the time and effort taken to voice your dissatisfaction to our office. It is with the cooperation and feedback from valued clients such as yourself that we are able to identify any areas of improvement within our organisation.
As per discussion with the store. They have advised that they have emailed you requesting for an updated letterhead. Once the store receives the updated letterhead they will be able to transfer the number onto your business account.
