VODACOM APPALLING SERVICE. ARE THEY THE DEFINITION OF "LOCKDOWN"?

On the 2nd of April 2020, I ordered a Samsung A01 online, R149 deal, on the 3rd of April it was confirmed that the courier service is on their way to deliver the phone. This phone is for my 78-year-old mother. Her phone broke and currently has no means of communication, therefore, I app**** for the contract in my name. The courier service contacted me to say they are on their way to deliver the phone and will I be able to receive the phone. I do not live with my mother and instructed them that I give full consent for her to receive the phone. (I also offered to mail an affidavit from the police to give consent.) They did not want to deliver the phone due to that I am not signing for it. I phoned customer service and was told that it is against policy to deliver the phone if I am not the one receiving it. I explained again that I live 160 km from my mother and will mail all the documents needed to give consent and was denied (they even suggested that I should drive to deliver the phone myself with the lockdown?). I was then told that the order is not a phone but a sim card contract only. I explained to the operator that I did order a phone and not a sim card contract and was told that I am incorrect that I ordered a sim card (R125 airtime a month) only. I explained again that I do have proof that it was a phone with an email and again was told I AM INCORRECT. The operator gave me the online department's number to query the order. The online department is closed due to the pandemic. I phoned the after-sales department again to cancel the sim card contract and was told that I need to phone again in 4 to 5 working days to cancel. The courier service in the meantime delivered the sim card to my mother??? My mother did not accept the delivery. I phoned the department again on the 9th of April to cancel the sim card contract and the operator informed me that she has canceled the sim card contract. I phoned again on the 14th of April to ensure that the sim card has been indeed canceled for the purpose that another Vodacom supplier will assist me to take out a contract WITH A PHONE. Again I was told that the sim card has not been canceled and that I need to phone again in 4 to 5 working days to cancel the sim card (apparently due to the fact that the courier service has not returned the sim card to Vodacom). This means due to an open sim card contract I can not apply for a contract WITH A PHONE!!! Firstly, I am appalled by the fact that no communication has been published on the Vodacom Online Website stating that the service is not available due to COVID-19. Secondly, the fact that I, the CUSTOMER, needs to phone on a continuous basis to cancel a sim card that I DID NOT order is absurd. I have been with Vodacom for more than 12 years. This is the worst service I have received in my life from a service provider. CANCEL THE SIM CARD!!!!!!!!!!!
