Vodacom and Finrite unfainess
I have a vodacom contract, with a vodacom handset, insured by Vodacom insurance. I recently had a claim and a replacement handset to the value of R15100.00 was approved. Vodacom advertises the iphone 12mini 64g for R15299.00. I was happy to pay the R199 price difference, and the excess, but then I was hit with a R1684 "Betterment Fee" which no one can explain to me, insurance says it's vodacom, vodacom says it's the store, and the store says it's insurance. It seems highly unfair and smells of ************ clawback by Vodacom, I am not happy and I am not going to let this go

06 Jan 2021, 15:49Vodacom has still not resolved this. I have a Vodacom contract, with a Vodacom handset, insured with Vodacom insurance. I recently dropped the handset, and took it into a Vodacom store for assessment and repairs. Vodacom insurance then informed me that the cost or repairs exceeded 75% value, and I was instructed to go and select a new phone to the value of R15100 at any Vodacom store. I then went to Vodacom 4U Somerset West Mall, and selected the new Iphone 12 mini 64G, advertised by Vodacom for R15299. I understand that I need to pay a 15% Excess, as well as the price difference (R199) between the two handsets. What I object to is the "Betterment Fee" of R1645.51. Vodacom has informed me that this is a the cost of the handset as calculated by Finrite insurance. I will refer you to the terms and conditions of my Vodacom Insurance, namely, clause 16, which reads as follows : 16. “Sum Insured” means the retail price of the Device inclusive of VAT at the time of Loss, Theft or Accidental Damage. The retail value of the device is R15299. This is what it is advertised for on VODACOMS website, this is what I expect to pay, not R R16745.51. Nowhere in my insurance agreement does it refer to a betterment fee, or the fact that there may be a difference in value between the cost of the device at Finrite, and the cost of the device at Vodacom. As far as I am concerned, I was sold the insurance through Vodacom, and your prices should be one and the same. That is a gross clawback by Finrite, and is completely *********. To forestall your next objection, that Finrite merely obtains the cost of the device from Vodacom, I honestly don’t care. I have fought Vodacom, and I have fought you, and you both keep pointing the finger back at each other. As the customer, it is not my duty to untangle this, but yours. You need to contact Vodacom, sort out the discrepancy in value, and refund me accordingly. Please do so.
My last feedback from the vodacom facebook team was that it's not their problem, and I need to contact finrite. finrite in turn refers me back to vodacom.

11 Jan 2021, 15:11Vodacom, that is complete nonsense. Your website prices for all the devices regardless of colour is exactly the same. And again, I won’t take this up with the store, YOU take it up with them, they simply point me back to you. I won’t be sent back and forth to resolve it. YOU please speak to the store, to the insurance, to Vodacom, YOU created this issue, the onus is not on me to resolve same.

11 Jan 2021, 15:23I went and checked. Vodacoms instore CVP price is R 13359 ex vat, regardless of colour. (R15362.59 vat inclusive). Vodacom Insurance is the one that adds the markup fee of R1200 ex vat. So answer me that, why is Vodacom Insurance charging a substantially higher fee for the phone than Vodacom itself?
