Vodacom ********* and false promises to their customers

On Monday 27 May 2024 I was contacted by a Vodacom representative , it was a male employee and unfortunately I do not remember his name. He advised that Vodacom is going to give me a new Samsung Galaxy AOE4 phone and that my monthly subscription fee would come down to R229/month. I asked him if these changes are going to impact on my current contract minutes that I receive and he advised it will have no impact except for my fees going down and the new phone I was going to receive within 48 hours. He even advised that Vodacom 30th birthday is coming soon and asked me a few questions which I answered correctly and apparently I was now also entered into a draw where if I win I would not have to pay my monthly subscription fee for a few months. I accepted his offer and was advised the phone would be delivered within 48 hours. Immediately after the phone call Vodacom send me an SMS stating the quotation has been processed with quotation number *** and order number ***. On 31 May I phoned Vodacom to follow up where my phone was and I spoke to a lady named Limpho. She advised that the order was cancelled and I asked why and who cancelled the order? She then rep**** that the Vodacom representative who contacted me initially did not put the order through on their system. She then told me that she would escalate the matter and get back to me as I wanted to know what was going on and why Vodacom is making false promises to me. After the phone call I received an SMS from Vodacom stating that my upgrade order has been completed and that my new contract value is R229 per month. It now seems to me as if they upgraded my contract with an expiry date of 31-05-2026. I got another SMS, this time I got a quotation number of *** and an order number of ***. The next day I noticed that they gave me a once of 20 Gig data for the month to use . I also noticed that my new balance is not R229 per month as promised. My current balance for the month stands at R 246.98. Vodacom never phoned me back as promised. On 4 June I again contacted Vodacom to follow up on the feedback that Limpho promised and to find out where my phone is that I was promised. This time I spoke to a lady named Andile, she told me the same story about the order that was cancelled and never put through. I told her that the previous representative already advised that to me and that I was waiting for Vodacom to give me feedback on the matter. She then told me that she was escalating the matter and she send a mail to the relevant department who would come back to me within 2-3 business days. I again received an SMS from Vodacom thanking me for contacting the customer care department. It goes without saying that I am writing this review as Vodacom till date have not contacted me to explain to me why they would make false promises to me. As a client of Vodacom for 20 years plus I am disgusted with their attitude of ignoring my requests for an answer and their lies towards me. Not only are they ********* in their approach towards business, but they are a company that cannot be trusted. I am definitely now considering cancelling my contract with them. Please do not do business with this company who makes false promises to their customers!

Reviewer Update
It is with utter disgrace that I am responding today to the above Vodacom replies to my initial review of Vodacom on 10 June 2024. Below is the chronological order of events that occurred following my review posted. Below is the feedback that occurred from Vodacom to which they are referring above.

On 11 June 2024 I received a phone call from a Vodacom representative enquiring about my Hello Peter review. His name is Fergie. I explained to him the offer that Vodacom made to me on 27 May 2024, as I have done numerous times to numerous Vodacom representatives using my own resources i.e. I have to phone them using my own airtime. Every phone call lasts at least 30 minutes. I asked that Vodacom review the phone conversation of 27 May 2024 and that Vodacom honor the offer made to me. He advised that he would ask Vodacom to do the review and that he would phone me back latest on Friday 14 June 2024. Till date he has not phoned me back.

Not long after the above phone call I received another phone call from Yusuf, he informed me that he was the Vodacom representative who contacted me on 27 May 2024 and he apologized to me. He told me that there was a mix up with the orders and that he accidentally put the wrong order through. In stead of putting the order for the Samsung Galaxy AOE4 phone through he placed an order that only involved a sim card. He then for the second time promised me that the Samsung Galaxy AOE 4 would be delivered to me within 48 hours and that my current contract would remain the same. I would still get my R280 airtime monthly, with 100 bonus minutes monthly and my monthly instalment would go down to R229/month. I asked all of these questions to him individually and every time his response was positive to me as with his first phone call to me on 27 May 2024. I thanked him and the conversation ended.

The next day, 12 June 2024, Yusuf phoned me again and this time his story and offer completely changed from the previous day. He now offered me a Mobicell 5 phone with much less RAM, storage and Megapixels. He also advised that my airtime would now go down toR215/month, 100 bonus minutes and my monthly subscription would now go up to R274/month. My response to his offer was that this was not the offer made the day before and on 27 May 2024 and that I am not interested in the offer made now. He told me that he was going to explore other options and that he would revert back to me. Just after this phone call I received an SMS from Vodacom stating that my service ticket with reference number EC-1TR6-22HV5Y has been closed.

I then immediately phoned Vodacom and this time I spoke to a person named Wesley. Again I had to explain everything and he then put me through to the department that apparently deals with this. A lady picked up and I asked to speak to Fergie, to which she rep**** no one with that name works there. I was so frustrated at this time that I said goodbye and that I am going back to Hello Peter to share this. Immediately after putting the phone down Wesley phoned me back and explained to me that the SMS received does not carry any weight as it is a system generated SMS and it does not mean that my query was resolved. I then thanked him and told him that is shall wait for Fergie to contact me as promised on Friday, 14 June 2024, latest. Failure to do so would lead to me taking further action in this regard.

Needless to say I am writing this follow up review as it is clear that Vodacom does not have any respect for their long standing customers and that they shall try anything to not honor promises made to a customer. There behavior towards me in dealing with this amounts to a company that believes in ********* and ******* business practices.

I am now giving Vodacom one last chance to honor their agreement made to me on 27 May 2024. I am giving them an ultimatum in which they have until close of business tomorrow, 18 June 2024, to honor their initial promise made to me. Failure to do so will leave me with no choice but to use any and all social media platforms available to me to share my story with the entire world. I need the entire world to see that they should refrain from doing business with a company which is unable to honor any and all basic business principles!
