Vodacom Alisom Menlyn Mall
I went in to this store (Vodacom Menlyn Mall) ALISOM for the special that Samsung has, where you can trade in your phone and get R10 000 off your contract.
The consultant assisting me indicated that I require a proof of purchase to trade in the device as per her manager.
I spoke to her manager Mr Idris Bello who could not show me any document or any proof that the proof of purchase is required for the trade in.
I called a few other Vodacom stores and they indicated I would not require the proof of purchase as long the phone switches on and is not blacklisted.
We spent a lot of time arguing over the matter where Mr Bello then came and said that this is as per the second hand goods act and if I did not have the proof of purchase they could not help me.
I even went as far as downloading the terms of the deal from the internet and presented this to Mr Bello. The conditions were clearly from Vodacom.
He further stated that this was a franchised store owned by Alisom and not Vodacom directly.
It was also indicated by Mr Bello that if the South African Police Service came to the store to enquire regarding the origin of the phone "Vodacom" would not be responsible but rather the store namely Alisom.
I indicated that they are representing Vodacom and should act that way. I also indicated that the store does not say Alisom anywhere, but rather the branding and everything in the store is indicative that this is a Vodacom store.
I eventually managed to get the proof of purchase and Mr Idris Bello insisted that the store was correct for requesting it.
Vodacom franchised stores who make their own rules contradictory to that of Vodacoms, should not be allowed to operate as Vodacom as this is a disgrace to Vodacom.
I was deeply disappointed with the service received especially from a manager who could not prove any documented requirements from Vodacom and I would not advise anyone to use this franchised store.
The service and manner in which I was assisted by the manager was clearly unprofessional and against what Vodacom stands for.
