Vodacom agent misled me into paying for more expensive packages
On 8 March I called Vodacom upgrades, in anticipation of both my contracts coming to an end at the end of March.
I explained to the consultant that I wanted to, as far as possible, keep the same airtime, minutes and data on both contracts. I told him that I barely used the airtime that came with both packages.
He told me that I could no longer stay on the Red Flexi 75 and that the cheapest option was the Ref Flexi 140. I agreed, and he put together contracts for me.
At the end of the call I requested that he provide me with a reference number. He told me that: 1 - the system was down so it could not generate a reference number and 2: - not to worry, the information would be sent via text.
I was not surprised when I did not receive a text.
Later in March I received the two new contracts. As I have come to expect from Vodacom, one was incomplete, as the agent failed to add the data package to one of my numbers.
To address this, on 2 April, I called customer care and spoke to Zola. I told him the story, and he advised me that there is actually a Red Flexi 80, and there was no need for me to go with the more expensive Red Flexi 140 package. Zola looked on the system and was able to identify the agent that misled me and sold me this package.
I have had so many problems with Vodacom upgrades in the past years, but this looks like I was outright **** to by a representative of Vodacom.
Zola managed to correct the situation for both my numbers. However, the real issue is that a representative of Vodacom misrepresented what options were available to me. If this happened once, who else is being **** to/sold packages they do not need or want.
