Vodacom - Account Nightmare
I have a contract with Vodacom since 3 years back for a tablet (please note - a tablet, not a cellphone or a device that can receive a call on). The contract expired end of 2017, but I was never contacted to confirm continuation. I did notice that the monthly connection fees was still being deducted, so I left it to carry on. The company that I worked for was liquidated end of February 2018, but I always saw to it that I had funds in my account for the necessary debit orders to be deducted. I then receive a call from Jacobs and Burnard attorneys regarding Vodacom that blacklisted and handed me over for the outstanding fees. Apparently the debit order did not clear. Obviously the debit order deducted on a later date that was agreed upon, as all my other debit orders (insurance, medical aid, multichoice) all were paid every month. On requesting more information from the attorneys, I was informed that they have no info regarding the account - just that they have to collect the debt. Why did Vodacom never try to contact me directly? Why do they wait until November 2018 and then hand me over? When I contacted Vodacom, I was informed that there are no contact details on my account? They did not even try to contact me per e-mail or even inform me via post? I have not received any account from them informing me of any amount in arrears. Subsequently I will definitely be cancelling this contract and will advise anyone to not sign up with Vodacom. I now have a bad credit score due to such a large company not being able to inform or contact me.
