Vodacom Account
On November 7, 2022 I signed up for a month to month internet contract for R599-00 p/m (Fibre Order - ***) My first account was for an amount of +/- R1400-00 for installation fees, the router supp**** end the first months subscription fee, which was no problem at all. Then on 31 March 2023 I received an account for R773.23. After a query as to why there was an increase in tariff the explanation was that there was an automatic upgrade. I complained to Vodacom Customer care about it explaining to them that 1) I can not afford it, 2) I don't need the upgrade, 3) They never notified me there was an upgrade coming, 4) They never had my permission, nor request for the upgrade. Vodacom did not even have the decency to reply on my complaint about the upgrade. The next invoice to my surprise on 01 Apr 2023 was even higher at R799-00. I then contacted Vodacom again notifying them that if they do not revert back to the original contract they leave me no option but to end the contract, again without a reply. When I received the next account on 01 May 2023 I decided to cancel the contract and being a month to month contract I was well within my rights to cancel providing I give notice of cancellation for a calendar month So my notice of cancellation went in on 06 06 June 2023 which was rejected due to the fact that it was not a full calendar month, which I excepted and notified them to take the next month July 2023 as my notice month. For all this time I paid my account as requested So at this stage I was comfortable that I did everything as requested to end the contract. Payments was also in advance (prepaid) and there was a debit order, so I was up to date with my payments. THEN on July 01, 2023 I again received an invoice for R799-00 which I then paid as my last payment due to Vodacom for the month to month contract. Om June 08,2023 I received a cancellation form which I had to sign to cancel the contract. I noticed there was a section (Balance of Contract for Prom. P***) but being up to date with my payments it didn't really caused any alarm with me although in that section it showed the following: 1x Balance of Contract for Prom. P*** 1 P*** S*** R1,243.95 R0.00 with a total outstanding amount of R 1,430-54. I then queried the amount with Vodacom again with no reply. They kept on sending statements month after month (which I just ignored as I am confident that I do not owe any money to Vodacom.) I was now handed over to attorneys. I then received the following letter from the attorneys: GERHARDUS JOHANNES VERWEY 26 STOTT STREET MARGATE TRAFALGAR MARGATE UVONGO, SOUTH AFRICA 4275
