Vodacom - A Nightmare!
I have had the WORST experience this year with Vodacom, after being a loyal client for many years without issue. I had 4 contracts with Vodacom, 3 of which were finished and had changed to month-to-month status without so much as a word from Vodacom or a complimentary call for an upgrade or cancellation. On finding this out, I contacted Vodacom cancellations number on the 09 January 2021 between 10h30 and 11h00 and requested cancellation of the 3 numbers that I no longer require, as these contracts were done there was no cancellation fee but required a 30 day / 1 month notice period and the lady advised me that I would need to make the last payments at the end of January and that she had processed the cancellations for me. At the end of January the debit orders went off as usual and I now believed that my contracts were up, however I had not received an email confirmation as mentioned by the call centre agent on the 09th of January. I then tried to contact the cancellations number a few times without success to follow up on the written confirmation. I then used the Vodacom online to reach out to anybody at Vodacom on the 10th February 2021 where I was assisted by an agent by the name of Charne, that chat ended unexpectedly and when I tried again, I was assisted by an agent by the name of Ayanda, I detailed all of the above and requested assistance, she called me back to tell me that the contracts were not cancelled on their system and still active as month-to-month, she requested the date and time of my call to retrieve the call records, as I was able to give her the exact time, the call records were easily retrieved and she advised that she had escalated to management and they would contact me, I requested a reference number for the call and was advised that there isn't one or need for it, I should be contacted within 3 to 7 working days on resolution. On the 16th February 2021 at 12h26, I contacted the cancellations number (as I had not heard anything back) and was able to get through and requested an update, I was assisted by an agent named Anele Gumede that advised that she can see on her system that it was escalated but not yet resolved and contracts were still active, she advised that she will add an additional note on the system to expedite and I should hear something soon from their management - again no reference for that call. Needless to say, no feedback from Vodacom and they debited my account on the 25th February for all 4 contracts - The nerve! I contacted the cancellations number again on the 27th February at 11h47 and was assisted by an agent named Ayanda (although I don't think it is the same agent that assisted on the 10th) Ayanda informed me that the contracts were still active and she can see the escalation as well. Ayanda proceeded to cancel the contracts on that call and waited on the line until written confirmation was sent to me via sms for each number, she also advised that she has put through a request for a refund of the February debit (because I had advised that I will reverse the payment) and that should be done in the next few days. Not surprisingly, no refund received! And the cherry on top is that Vodacom proceeded to debit me again on the 25th March 2021 for all 4 contracts!!!! I reversed that debit order and waited for a call from Vodacom - no call received, however when checking the Vodacom app March's payment is showing as overdue! To this date I have not received a call from Vodacom "management" or whoever they "escalate" to! I have not stopped the debit order as I have 1 active account and expect to be debited the correct amount for that contract ONLY! Until then, I will continue to reverse their debit orders! Let's hope that someone at Vodacom has the sense (although I am not holding out much hope) to contact me to resolve this matter and atleast salvage some of their reputation. I will not be upgrading my current contract with them and will DEFINITELY be cancelling it in December when it is up!
