Vodacom 4U in Cavendish Connect not much better

So, foiled at MTN (see my previous review) I take my phone-transfer business to Vodacom 4U in Cavendish Connect. R199 for the transfer and another R40 or so for a new 'nano' SIM card, which will be active in four hours, I'm told. Apart from that, I ask, I'm good to go? Yes. Quite what good to go means to the polite young chap in question, I don't know. None of my old phone apps are on the new phone - service my GF had got from Vodacom Constantia Village - and no phone service either. Bright idea - I check the sim card packaging I was given ("This is yours..."). The sim card hasn't been put in. Quite how 'transferring a phone' (or whatever you call it) can be conceived of which doesn't involve putting the sim card in, is beyond me. So I google putting a nano sim card in a Samsung, find a pin and snap off bits of plastic until I've got something about the size of a nail clipping. Fit it in the slider and put it in. "Sim card not supported", the phone tells me. This is so symptomatic. Start doing a thing, and just give up halfway. What does this assistant think I want when I say I want my phone use transferred from one model to another? That I want to find all my apps again myself, and put my own sim card in? Drive back to Cavendish - by now, I need this phone working. Fail to notice traffic lights not working so I drive into the parking before realising there's a power cut and the shops have closed early for the day. Strangely though, the machines which take your money for parking are still working perfectly. Nice one, Old Mutual.
