Vodacom

Vodacom has proven to be the worst service provider, let me tell you why.

I requested 2 contracts. One was an upgrade, the other was moving an already owned Vodacom Prepaid number to a contract. The online "upgrade" went through successfully and it was easy. The prepaid number however, has been a complete nightmare.

I phoned Vodacom to assist as I wanted a new phone. The consultant then confirmed that my order has been placed and that my prepaid number has moved over to a contract number. Turns out, she ****. I phoned back a day later to confirm, turns out the order was cancelled as the consultant never actually processed the order.

I then got to speak to a very helpful consultant that assured me, that she'd be able to assist me. Which she did. She told me that the previous order was not processed properly, and that she'll start the process properly.

Let's fast forward. My contract was approved, and my number has been moved over to contract, as per the consultant on Voice Recording.

I signed for my phone, but received a new sim card. Vodacom then phoned me and told me that they messed up on my order. They have allocated my benefits to a "new" number, and not the number confirmed on the voice recording. After a lot of debating, I then agreed and said that I'll keep the number as I can't operate without the phone (I had already sold my backup phone).

I then get another call, stating that they allocated my benefits to a stranger and that it was not allocated to the extra sim card provided. They would need to "pick up" my phone and "re-vet" my contract. So I asked the simple question, is this going to be a hot swap? Vodacom then said that no, they would need to pick up my phone and I'd need to wait for stock to come in before they can actually distribute and deliver a new phone. This is the iPhone 13 Pro, and there is no stock left in the country, at all.

I refused and said that they need to sort it out, as this was negligent from their side. I am in short, paying for someone else to use the benefits, that they confirmed were allocated to my number.

Every call I get is saying that they need to pick up the phone as it was a package deal, and that I'd be without a phone until stock arrives and that they can't do anything about it.

This is the worst service I have ever received from the company that claims to be South Africa's leading Network Provider. The fact that they think it's okay to leave someone without a phone, while the client is paying for someone else's benefits, is disgusting to say the least.

I sure hope this is sorted out ASAP, as I will be contacting the CEO, alongside ICASA.
