Vodacom

After complaining about Vodacom's service. Somebody eventually phoned my husband from Customer care. The branch phoned me to inform me that my son's phone cannot be repaired. Apparently Sony has pulled out of the country. So we are paying for a phone that is under warranty which we have not had in our possession since end of May 2020. We are waiting with eager expectation to hear if Vodacom is going to honour their warranty? Or are they going to continue taking my money until the phone I don't have is paid for?

Thank you. Today my husband phoned Vodacom customer care AGAIN. The lady said she cannot help us we must contact the manufacturer, who is apparently in China!!!
So my husband says if he buys a phone from Vodacom and it stops working what happens. She says there is a 7 day return policy!
So the Sony is on a 2 year warranty contract which ONLY expires in DECEMBER 2020. So she's saying if a Vodacom customer buys a phone and it stops working within those 2 years and they can't help you. It's YOUR problem not theirs. You will pay for for a phone you no longer own! My husband asked if he can speak to somebody else she said not even her supervisor can help us. So now WHY must I or anybody else buy a phone on contract from Vodacom if this is the outcome?
Why must I pay for a warranty? Why must I pay for a device that is not even in my possession?
Why does Vodacom even have a customer care?
