Vodacom - 13 year old client leaves, and gets handed over to debt collection attorneys

After 13 years of being a client with Vodacom, a combination of bad service, dropped calls and high pricing I decided to port my number to another provider. In November 2016 I paid my last subscription amount to Vodacom for December and asked them to please move me onto prepaid (this is after I was told they will match my current offer, and I should wait before porting). They matched nothing and were clearly not interested in keeping my business. I officially requested this, and was successfully put onto prepaid on 1st January 2017. I thereafter ported and am happily onboard with my new provider. Just keep in mind, that for almost 2 years before this, I DID NOT upgrade my contract as I did not want to be forced to stay with Vodacom. So basically I wa on a month to month contract.

To my dismay, I get a call late January from attorneys claiming that I owe Vodacom R1900 and some change. I immediately disput it and mention if I do owe Vodam any money it could possibly be minimal due to any calls out of my contract, as I paid the heft R1100 final subscription for December. I immediately contact Vodacom customer service to get my latest account and query this issue, and they say I need to deal with their attorneys as they cannot provide me any information. WELL DONE Vodacom on treating a 13yr old premium customer in this manner the minute I leave you (NOTE to anyone wanting to use Vodacom).

I contact the attorneys, MDB Inc again, and they say it will take 48 hours to get my account from Vodacom. I am now waiting a month, having called them again about 2 weeks ago with another promise to get me the account going on deaf ears. They also try to convince me that their is a cancellation fee as I signed a contract with Vodacom, which I disputed as my contract ended almost 2 years prior with me being on a month to month contract which the MBD agent did not seem to understand.

I now risk having my ICT rating affected thanks to the incompetence of Vodacom and MBD, and me looking to get a new car and home this year might be a mountain to climb thanks to these corporates not caring or giving a **** of us "numbers" and "dollars" in their eyes.

In sheer desperation, I send MBD an email today to put it on record that I have contacted them previously and turned to hellopeter as their is no other recourse mechanism for such issues where corporates bully clients into paying money to them that makes no sense and you have some nonsensical explanation why. Is there anywhere I can lay a formal complaint?

Hi
It has been almost a month and still no contact, just an automated response. Thanks Vodacom for getting my finance application not approved because of money you claim I owe you and neither yourselves or MBD can provide me with a statement to date as to why I owe you this money. I will never be a Vodacom custmer again!!!
