Very risky to have a Smartphone and a Vodacom contract

Last week Friday I had an application on my smartphone which for some reason started to download lots of data. This completed my data bundle and consumed lots of data out of bundle. I do have a volunteer credit limit on my account, to protect me against case like this, but Vodacom system failed and did not lock my account.

I received the following response Vodacom:

"Your call limit didnt lock as it is stated on the terms and conditions of the call limit that the service,it is no a GUARANTEED SERVICE FROM A TECHNICAL POINT OF VIEW."

I think this is totally unacceptable, and people should know the risk they run if they use a smartphone and and a Vodacom contract. You can easily run-up a bill of R 10 000 and you have no way to protect yourself

Nobody from Vodacom phoned me. Not sure what they want to discuss. It is just to risky for my to use a contract with Vodacom, so I will NOT renew my contract.

I will also try to educate others about the risk they run with a Vodacom contract.
