Very poor service and uninformed consultants
7th of December 2017 my father passed away, and he was the account holder of my contract, my mother’s and my brother’s. We had to provide his death certificate to Vodacom TWICE before they declared him as deceased. Transfer of ownership was done for both my mother and my brother because they each have a monthly income. I don’t have a salary, because I am a University student, thus a transfer of ownership could not be successfully done. Phoned Customer Care after going to Canal Walk Vodacom. They tell me to send my father’s death certificate, ID and an executive letter from our lawyer stating that I want to keep my number and change my contract to pay as you go. Go through all of that, send the documentation through to ********** and they reply back that the issue will be resolved in 3 working days. 3 working days pass and I get an email saying that my number will be terminated. Return to Vodacom Canal Walk and they tell me to resend the documentation to Legal Collections. I do as they say, and get a reply that I have to pay over R7000 to have my number unsuspended. My contract is R450/per month/24months and the contract ends in August. Try to phone Customer Care only to be told twice that I will be put through to someone that can help me and then the line disconnects. Return to Vodacom Canal Walk That R7000+ is according to Vodacom the outstanding amount of all the contracts that were in my Father’s name. Please explain to me how that makes sense when transfer of ownership has been completed on my mother and my brother’s contracts. They tell me that their Supervisor will contact me with information about my contract to help me. 1 week later and no phone call from the supervisor. I return to Vodacom Canal Walk for more information, only to have a consultant phone the supervisor and have him tell her to tell me that all I can do is to get a new number. Getting a new number includes going to the bank to change my number, change my phone number at the university etc. What a disappointing experience after I’ve been a loyal customer of Vodacom for 13 years and my Father was one for even longer. How is it possible that there is no solution for me to keep my number? After driving to Canal Walk Vodacom because they are apparently the only ones that could help me, advised from Bayside Mall’s Vodacom, not 1 but 4 times in a matter of 4 weeks. This is really the most frustrating experience and the poorest service I’ve ever received from a business. Very disappointed. As a person who has lost someone very important in their life, this was and is such unnecessary stress and frustration.
