Very poor in-store and support training from Vodacom.
I recently purchased a new Apple Watch with a cellular option and tried to get mobile services activated. I was first told I needed to convert my phone to an eSIM. I then tried to activate the mobile services on my watch and it failed and kept failing. I called Vodacom support at least 4 times and spoke to 4 different people and nobody knew what to do and each gave me different advice. I then went to Cavendish and visited the Apple Store, the Vodacom data store and the Vodacom 4U store and nobody knew how to help me. Long story short, I spent the better part of two days trying to resolve this problem. I eventually went back to the Cavendish again and visited Cellucity and spoken to the manager. He was excellent and within minutes had identified that I had been poorly advised and needed to revert back to a fixed SIM and then I would be able to activate the mobile services on my Watch. This I was able to do. However, my bank had seen a SIM swap had taken place and then disabled me from approving any payments in case I had been subjected to *****. In my opinion, all of the above came about due to poor training on the part of Vodacom and they need to address it. An Apple Watch with a cellular option cannot be such a unique case that nobody knows what advice to give. This applies in-store and via the support centres. As an aside, I will be take my business to Cellucity at Cavendish from now on, they knew how to navigate this situation better than Vodacom’s own staff.
