Vadacom less than one star
To all concerned. My son has a contract with Vodacom for Broadband internet service. In June 2019 his employer transferred him to the Netherlands. He decided to let me have the benefit of the remaining part of the contract, while he still paid for it. He then asked Vodacom for a relocation to Witfieldpark Retirement village. Unfortunately, fibre was (and still is) not available within our village. Vodacom therefore undertook to supply me with a LTE modem. After numerous phone calls and e-mails by my son. RAM couriers delivered the LTE and a new router on May 6. Since then I’ve been trying to get thing to work. The instructions that came with the LTE stated that I must insert it into the USB port on my laptop and it would install itself. When I phoned Vodacom, I was told that I have to do it through the router. Again I followed the instructions to connect the LTE to the router, switch it on and wait 15 – 20 minutes. I tried this a few times, even waiting 30 minutes, without success. Thinking about the problem, I realized that this method was never going to work. The reason: I took the sim card out of the plastic myself. It is not registered at all. There is no way it could connect to any service. I have the following concerns: 1 How can Vodacom just dump equipment into my lap without getting it to work? 2 Why must my son pay for a service for almost a year that is totally useless? 3 Why did it take 11 months to deliver something as small as a LTE modem? I am really disgusted by Vodacoms attitude. It is only now, during lockdown, with business at a low, that they attended to a SO outstanding for 11 months. What’s more: Just to get a complaint through to Vodacom, is a nerve-racking experience. There are many numbers for call centres, but all one gets is promises and no reaction. E-mail complaints is even more difficult to do. Jan du Preez (senior).
