Utterly ridiculous returns procedure at Vodacom to fix their stupid mistake

So I performed a contract upgrade and opted for the Galaxy S8, Gear VR and S8 accessory bundle.

When I received the package the Gear VR unit included was incompatible with the S8, which I reported to them.

No problem, I thought. They can just replace it with the correct unit and I can get on with my life. Easy right? Oh boy, was I wrong.

Today I receive a call from them and the agent tells me, they are sorry to have shipped me the wrong Gear VR, they'd like to fix it for me. Could I send back EVERYTHING INCLUDING THE PHONE so that they can issue me with a replacement for everything.

Bear in mind that I have already given the phone to my wife, she's already transferred everything and gotten rid of her old phone. I'm told "that's just our procedure" sorry.

So now I'm stuck with a R1500 paperweight through no fault of my own and because their admin system is *****ic it's not their problem anymore.

Beware, if Vodacom ever sends you the wrong stuff be prepared to be severely inconvenienced or simply suck it up.

I hope they enjoy the next 24 months, because there's no way I'm sticking with this company.

After making a bit of noise we we're able to come to an agreement. I don't get the correct Gear VR (they don't have it), but I can keep the one I received at no charge and got a 5GB data bundle by way of apology.

It's a pity that I had to fight for better customer service, but at least it came eventually. Also, go straight to the social media support guys on Twitter, don't bother with the call center. Kudos to @Vodacom111
