Urgent Complaint - Unresolved Contract Cancellation & Harassing Legal Action

Dear Hello Peter Team,

I am writing to request your assistance in resolving a frustrating and unfair situation with Vodacom regarding a data pack contract and its cancellation.

On 11 August 2023, I accepted a 100GB data pack contract via Vodacom's telephonic sales team. I was assured during the recorded call that I could cancel the contract free of charge within seven days. After carefully considering my budget, I decided to cancel the contract on the same day.

Despite multiple attempts to cancel through the Vodacom call center, I was unsuccessful. Frustrated, I visited a Vodacom store on 14 August 2023, where the representative advised me that cancellations for contracts initiated by phone could only be done through the call center. She kindly assisted me in calling them, but the cancellation attempt remained unsuccessful.

Furthermore, I sent a written cancellation request via email on 16 August 2023, ensuring I was well within the 7-day window. Despite all these efforts, Vodacom continued to deduct the contract fees from my bank account.

Each time I contacted the Vodacom call center for an explanation, they confirmed the cancellation and promised a confirmation email, but I never received one. Now, I am being harassed by their legal department regarding the unpaid fees.

I am deeply frustrated and concerned by this situation. I made every effort to cancel the contract within the stipulated timeframe, and I have proof of my communication attempts. Vodacom's lack of communication and now resorting to legal action is unacceptable.

I kindly request your assistance in:

Mediating a resolution with Vodacom to confirm the cancellation and stop any further deductions. Ensuring that Vodacom removes any negative impact on my credit score due to this issue. Holding Vodacom accountable for their misleading information and poor customer service.
