Urgent Complaint: Account Handed Over Despite Contract Cancellation and Full Payment

I am writing to express my deep frustration with Vodacom regarding the handling of my account and contract cancellations. Previously, I had multiple contracts with Vodacom that had reached their expiry dates. Due to financial difficulties, I struggled to make payments before the contracts ended. I contacted Vodacom for assistance, and they offered to move me to a less expensive contract. However, they failed to disclose that this would extend the contract period. Despite my repeated requests to cancel, Vodacom refused, leaving me trapped in a contract I could no longer afford. To make matters worse, the devices linked to these contracts were broken, yet I continued to be charged for airtime I couldn’t use. This situation caused me significant stress and inconvenience. Eventually, after escalating the issue to HelloPeter, Vodacom cancelled the contracts and I paid all outstanding amounts. The payments were processed successfully, and I believed the matter was resolved. However, today I received an SMS stating that my account has been handed over. This is both shocking and unacceptable, especially considering that the contracts were cancelled and payments were made in full. I am requesting Vodacom to:

Provide a clear explanation for why my account was handed over. Rectify this error immediately and confirm that my account is not in arrears. Ensure that no further action is taken against me, including blacklisting or collections.

I trusted Vodacom to act in good faith after resolving the previous issue. This latest development undermines that trust and has caused renewed distress. I urge HelloPeter to assist once again in holding Vodacom accountable and ensuring this matter is resolved fairly and transparently.

Reviewer Update
I received a call from Vodacom following my report. The consultant who assisted me claimed that I owe R31.80 for an airtime advance. Additionally, she alleged that my debit orders were unpaid, resulting in an extra charge of R100.88.
I requested a statement and discovered that I am still being billed for a contract that was previously cancelled. The unpaid debit order Vodacom is referring to was issued after the contract had already been cancelled.
I would appreciate it if Vodacom could confirm whether my contract has indeed been cancelled, as I am still being charged.
