Upgrade without consent

I have been a customer of Vodacom for over 25 years.

I wanted to do an upgrade special I saw advertised and when I enquired they said I can only upgrade in May 2026. I called Vodacom on sunday and spoke to someone and I asked her to check as I haven’t made changes to my account in years. She said I upgraded in 2024 and I vehemently deny this and asked for the recording of that 2024 call.

Here is what happened – Vodacom kept calling and calling saying all my numbers are due for upgrade – Account number: I***xx-9

The lady on the call in 2024 said that she wanted to give me a free Honor phone for the number 06******xx76 and because I was such a great customer she was giving me a Vodacom tablet which I could do whatever I wanted with, sell, use whatever. I said I don’t want to upgrade my number as I’m thinking about getting a new phone. She said this won’t affect me AT ALL, I can upgrade at ANY time. On Friday I finally see a deal I want so my daughter and I can both get a new iPhone I get told I can’t upgrade.

The lady on the call after repeating my story 3 or 4 times then tells me I have to go into a store (on Black Friday weekend) and fill in forms and request the recording. I really feel like I was duped back in 2024 and I’m disgusted. Its like you guys have no morals anymore. You harass harass harras with constant calling, get what you want by promising the world and then ***** the customer.

I dare you to pull that recording and listen very carefully. I’m disgusted, really upset about it and it’s left such a fowl taste in my mouth, I will never again recommend Vodacom in fact I’m think of cancelling my account – that exactly what I said when I ended that long call yesterday.
