Upgrade Nightmare

On the 28th of February my data contract was due for upgrade. I immediately wanted to üpgrade"the contract since the curren contract no longer suits my needs. i went to the local Vodacom shop, but they did not have stock available, they advised that I do an online "upgrade"to guarentee a quicker turnaround time. Upon retruning home I logged on, and chose the package I wanted to replace my existing contract.

This is where my trouble started, first of all, Vodacom did not meet their next day deliverry promise, when I called to enquire the call centre agent contradicted the online promise by saying "3-5 working days". Fine, however 8 working days had passed at that stage. She advised me that the package was with RAM and that I should call them to enquire (I do not know why Vodacom could not do so). i called RAM who advised me that they tried to call, but no-one answerred at the Vodacom provided number. Here is the best part...Vodacom has on record that I no longer stay In Rustenburg (its been 11 years!!!) and yet they provided the courier with a Rustenburg contact number. BTW, I have 4 active Vodacom accouns, but Vodacom in their infinate wisdom thought it best to provide the courier with a 11 year old land line number...common sense dictates that they give the courier a cellphone number that they must know is definately active and - best of all - I will always be in a position to answer.

Anyway, I provided the courier with a cellphone number and still the deliverry failed. According to Vodacom the courier again claimed to have called, but failed to reach me (I have no record of such a call and best of all, the exact same courier deliverred a Yuppiechef order to me and contacted me on the exact same number I gave for the Vodacom deliverry). One would have though that a massive courier company like RAM would be able to see that they have two orders being held at the same distribution point for the same person to exactly the same adress at EXACTLY the same time, but no, cross referencing apparently does not exist within their IT sollution.

Frustrated beyond end, I contacted Vodacom again, the first call was dropped by the operator....I called again. I informed the operator that I would like to cancel the order since, she tried to convince me otherwise, but I was determined and had made up my mind..... I wanted the contract cancelled when it ran its course at the end of May. No deliverry was made and Vodacom made absolutely no attempt to push the order through - I had to do all the work.

As far as I am concerned online upgrades are governed by the ECT, according to Vodacom I cannot cancel the upgrade unless I accept that it amounts to early termination. Wait, what? Early termination for a contract that had not been fullfilled, no deliverry was made, the contract had not been used and Vodacom did not meet their own online promise of a 24 hour deliverry.

Here is my commitment, my remaining 3 contracts will be terminated at its conclussion. Vodacom does not deserve loyal customers like me - especially if this is how they choose to treat them.
