Upgrade failed due to Vodacom system glitch – placed on more expensive package instead
On 8 December 2025, I attempted to upgrade online to the R99 for 20GB deal. The upgrade option was clearly available and selectable in the system. I proceeded with the transaction, but the process failed due to a Vodacom system glitch relating to banking details — details that were already correctly registered on my profile.
I attempted the transaction multiple times and was eventually logged out of the system.
I immediately followed up with Vodacom directly and also lodged a HelloPeter complaint. Despite this, no action was taken before the promotional window closed.
Thereafter:
I was offered an alternative R99 package (5GB + 10GB incentive)
That offer was later retracted
I was placed on a more expensive package instead
The original R99 20GB deal is now active again
However, I am now blocked from upgrading because Vodacom moved me onto the incorrect package
The result is that I never received the deal I selected and attempted to purchase, purely because of a system failure outside of my control.
This is unfair. The system allowed the selection at the time. I acted within the promotional period. The failure was technical — not due to timing or eligibility.
I am requesting that Vodacom:
Reverse the incorrect upgrade; and
Immediately place me on the R99 for 20GB deal that I originally selected.
I would appreciate this being resolved urgently and conclusively.
