Upgrade disaster! Why can't I migrate, Vodacom?

I have been a client of Vodacom since their early beginnings in South Africa. Sadly, after this last upgrade, it might just be my last with Vodacom.

I went to upgrade at Vodacom4U at Clearwater Mall in December 2016. The staff (including manager) who helped me "upgrade", unfortunately made my contract a top-up instead of an open-line billing contract (which I have been on since my very first contract).

I discovered the error and went back to them, where I was told that I can only migrate after 3 months.

Due to this and a sim-swop horrible experience at Vodacom4U, I decided to rather try the Vodacom shop in Clearwater Mall, where the staff gave me a good service, but sadly (due to Vodacom themselves) can't migrate me from a top-up to an open-line contract without paying a hefty penalty fine.

I have also phoned Vodacom Customer Care to help, but I get told the same thing.

I am really confused about this, as switching from a top-up account to an open-line contract would actually benefit Vodacom (and saving me the effort of always having to top-up with vouchers) and all this due to a huge mistake from the Vodacom4U Clearwater Mall team.

Vodacom, can you kindly assist me in this very confusing situation?
