Never Upgrade Your Contract... Wish this was possible, but in today's world your mobile provider is a necessary evil. I upgraded at a VodaShop on Monday, 11th July 2022. When upgrading the store informed me that my contract, a Vodacom RED Premium is no longer available and I had no real choice than upgrading to the Vodacom RED VIP or else I will not be able to continue with my unlimited phone call line. I upgraded and received my "Devices", yes 2 phone for some inexplicable reason but well basically R450 more per month on my contract i guess that's kind of makes sense even thou I really don't need it. Spent R3000 on accessories at the store and left with 2 phones in hand, a charger (Thank You Apple for That Trend), a Samsung S22 Ultra Smart LED cover and a screen protester (That The Store Installed Without Even Asking) for the S22, I took my staff, swallowed the higher price and left, what can we do, I need to be in contact as the business owner (YES this is my Main Business Contact number).
The next morning, Tuesday, 12th July 2022, a lady (Brandy) from the Vodacom Internal Upgrades department contacted me and I explained the situation I had concerning my main contract and what happened. I was told that due to the in store upgrade that was started but still pending they couldn't do anything about that contract's upgrade but I subsequently prosecuted with upgrading my data contract telepathically.
After the call with Vodacom I returned to the store at Mall Of The North where I upgraded the previous day and returned the 2 phones, still in there boxes as well as the stupidly priced screen protester that the store app****. At this time I haven't even received a text from Vodacom that confirmed the upgrade is in process. I requested to speak to the store manager but only the assistant manager was available at the time, an arrogant man that kept on complaining about the fact that the S22 was already opened and that a screen protector is installed that I will not get my money back for, at this time i couldn't have cared about the R600 screen protected as getting out of the contract the store got me in just the savings for the 1st month would pay for that. He told me they will send the request for the upgrade cancellation during the day and I'll be able to get my Vodacom upgrade done. Not very helpful but whatever. Just blame it on COVID, everybody dose.
Went home, started phoning the Vodacom Upgrade & Cancellations Department (Interesting that these two departments are at the same place) on *** / 9 and for the remainder of Tuesday and Wednesday i only managed to get hold of the Customer Care Department after extended holding times. I left messages requesting the Upgrade department to contact me concerning the matter of upgrading my contract but nothing, just got messages that my request is lodged with a reference.
Thursday morning, the 14th of July 2022 i finally got hold of the department but was informed that they can't help due to there systems being off-line and that they will get back to me, ya rite.
Friday, nothing... Saterday morning, 5 days after this story started at 11am my line got canceled, not suspended, canceled, no connection at all, noting, off-line, business has no means of being contacted. This with a fully paid up contract that been on this active telephone line as a contract from 2002 and as a active line for even longer.
Went to the Vodashop at Cycad Centre where I found out that my number is no longer linked to my contract, this is actually the main number that all my other contracts are linked to... When searching on the Vodacom systems it's not even linked to my name anymore. ***.
I really don't know what's going on with Vodacom but service is really going to hell and i dear Shameel Joosub, Vodacom CEO to get in contact as things like this is simply not acceptable, never mind that this is a business that affected or even that I've been a loyal client for 22+ years on the network.
