Unused, expired Vodacom Contract - impossible to cancel!
Account number QC 197818-0 In Decemeber 2016 i cancelled 3 cellphone contracts with Vodacom - all done over the phone with no problems. At the time i had a ****le contract which i decided to keep on contract.
In February 2017 the ****le stopped working and i was advised by vodacom (on the phone) that that i needed to upgrade, i declined the offer and asked to end the contract and was advised to call cancellations which i did, i then put a stop to my debit order and assumed that was the end of the matter. However instead of cancelling the contract vodacom has carried on sending me bills for a device that now hasn`t been used in 18 months. On 28 August 2017 i paid an account of R445.99 and was assured i would no longer receive and more accounts.... not the case. (the only reason i paid the account was because without paying it i was told i could not cancel the contract!) On returning to SA on 30th of January 2018 i was forced to pay another R530.46 in charges for the ****le in order to use my existing number as pay as you go (again the only reason i paid was that without settling Vodacom they would not activate the number!). I dont want to be paying for a service i am not using so I spent an hour on the phone to various people at Vodacom and again was assured that the account would be closed at the end of February. Then on 1 June 2018 i get a FINAL DEMAND email from Vodacom informing me i owe them R1620.65, R109 being the capital balance outstanding and R1511.65 in balance of subscriptions? On the 23 July i get and email from VVM Debt collectors informing of an update to my status with the credit bureau. So what Vodacom are saying is you owe us R109, but we will take R1511.65 in balance of subscriptions - surely this is not legal on a contract that has expired 18 months ago, on a device no longer operational and not in use? I again called Vodacom ( ********** ) this week to be told i need to cancel in writing - this was the first time after nearly two years that i was told this and after numerous calls i feel totally unacceptable. So i attempt sending Vodacom an email via their website and the website then directs you to page advising that the email service is disabled and to please call 082111 - Vodacom customer care - who then tell me to call cancellations ********** . This goes round and round in circles and is ridiculous especially trying to do this from abroad. I call VVM debt collectors and when i tell them my story they put me on hold and i eventually hangup after 5 minutes waiting?
To whom ever may read this at Vodacom: Your cancellation system doesn`t work - i will not pay for services i dont use and have have already cancelled. I get no-where on the phone to Vodacom (tired of dropped calls, being put on hold and being transferred to people who cant help) and Your email for cancellations doesnt exist! I have no and have never had any bad debt and if your companies incompetance affects my credit rating you will be held liable and reported to the relevant regulators. As far as i am concerned Vodacom owe me a refund of R445.99 and R530.48. and you wont get another cent out of me. You will have to make contact via email as i am abroad.
