************* retentions and sales staff
I have two contracts with Vodacom. One is a uChoose Flexi 200 that reached 24 months in December. The second contract (which was originally an add-on tablet with 250meg per month) came with that contract.
As I have just been retrenched I visited a Vodacom store in order to cancel the second contract. They instructed me to call Vodcom cancellations, which I did. I asked them to change the 2nd contract to pay-as-you-go and the lady who answered offered me another contract for the tablet instead which I only agreed to as it was a good deal. I double-checked the offer with her twice. She said that it would have 2gigs of data (available immediately), per month plus R120 airtime(available 1 Jan), for R79 per month, for 24 months.
The tablet data showed on the Vodacom app immediately but was not available to use. I called a few days later to enquire and was told it would be available 1 Jan. Then when I checked again on 1 Jan only the old contract amount of 250megs was available and the 2gigs had disappeared, and no airtime was available.
Then I checked my main number account and discovered that instead of my usual R200 airtime loaded that only R120 was loaded, but I did not ask for that contract to be changed at all! They also cancelled my permission to call overseas and despite numerous requests and calls back and forth I was unable to call my family overseas over New Year, despite having R100's of airtime loaded.
After much to-ing and fro-ing and only through agitating their helpful social media department, someone called me and assured me that Vodacom would honour the offer that was sold to me for my tablet contract. They said they will refer it to the necessary department and that I will receive a confirmation sms.
Now it is three weeks later and I have received no reference number and no sms and the tablet sim was put onto a uChoose Flexi 120 contract and the 2 Gigs of monthly data have not transpired as promised.
I have been patient and polite at all times but it's hard to stay positive, or even hopeful, about this company or their ability to resolve this (or even offer an apology, saying that they can't honour their offer). I am now looking at alternative data options with other companies and will be sure to no longer recommend Vodacom to anyone.
1 star is for the social media department which has tried to get answers for me.
