Unsolicited changes made to contract conditions

In 2015 I received a call from a telesales representative of Vodacom selling a 24 month top up contract for a wifi device. And as sale representaives go, they always try to close the deal. The terms to which I agreed was to receive 2gig data per month PLUS 2gig nighttime data for R109 per month. I know I received this for a few moths, because I would wait until my daytime data is exhausted then use my nighttime to update my apps, because who is awake that time of night anyway.

I noticed the nighttime data was no longer allocated and called their customer care. The agent who assisted me did not fully understand what I was saying, so I let it be. Two moths later, my debit deduction was suddenly much higher, only to discover the agent decided that she would change my contract conditions without my consent. I emailed and called Vodacom in an attempt to have this fixed with no luck. I eventually emailed their customer service director with my complaint. Gibraltor responded offering me 10gig data for my trouble. By September, still no changes had been made. I spoke to an agent on 09 Sepember to revert my contract back to what I agreed for it to be, and following a lot of emails. Still nothing.

Again, January I followed up, finally an agent was assigned to revert my contract back to what I agreed to. This month, I received the shock of my life when an additional R2 000 was debited from my account, and I am yet to receive a response from Vodacom.

Moral of my complaint, if you have given them your banking details for debit order purposes, be worried.

At any given time, a customer care agent can misconstrue what you are asking, and change the terms and conditions of your contract. You will no longer be in control of your funds, since they can now debit your account without rectifying their mistakes. And, after only eight months, they could eventually find an agent to change it back, but not reverse the damages made.

Being a Vodacom customer has become very stressful and financially draining.
