*******, unrequested upgrade, and no customer care support!

I've been paying month to month for years, ever since my first contract expired. Every time someone phones about me upgrading, I've turned them down - it's not worth me upgrading. It's been "cheap" for what I'm getting (it's a data only sim that I use as a backup 2nd sim), and I'm not locked into a contract.

On the 13th Nov, I received a notification about an order. Since I hadn't agreed to one, I tried to phone - their customer care line is only automated, and I couldn't speak to an actual person to help. I tried online, and the bot couldn't help me and told me to phone. I tried emailing customer care, and it reverted me to the bot. Vodacom's customer care is atrocious, as you can never speak to anyone! They probably do it on purpose, so people can't complain.

Today, I woke up to notifications that I've been upgraded to a contract I never agreed to! And my monthly bill will jump from R84 to R239. And even if that gets cancelled, they won't be able to revert me, as my contract month to month no longer exists on the system.

Again, I've tried calling, and emailing, all to the same ends. Vodacom should not be allowed to do this without approval - it's *******!

I want to know how they upgraded me with no agreement or approval from me? And if needs be, I will take this to the ombudsman.

Could someone from Vodacom please call me?

UPDATE:A really nice guy from Vodacom just called me. They're going to investigate how this happened... A discount is being app**** so I'm only going to end up paying R5 more than I currently am I'll get 2GB more data than I currently am, so I guess that's ok for locking myself into a contract for 2 years vs being month to month. And he said he was going to try and reverse/credit the R150 upgrade admin fee, as I didn't actually ask to be upgraded... So, if this is all true and he pulls it off, I'll be very impressed, and my faith restored! P.S. He did offer to cancel the upgrade, as I've contacted them in enough time to do so... But I've decided to keep it, because of the discount, and his offer to get the fee waived. Very pleasantly surprised!!!!
