Unreasonable cancellation fee
Earlier this year, Vodacom increased their tariff prices for contracts. I understand everything increases, but to do to it existing customers for current contracts can't just be ignored by the regulating body. If they increase it for new contracts & upgrades, I agree they have every right to do so. Whether its in their terms & conditions or not (& if its even legal or not) does not mean it is ethical. I signed a 24-month contract for a certain price (R199) not for R209. If I short-pay my contract by R10, I will be suspended & probably handed over because I'm paying less than the amount stipulated in the contract I signed. So if I can't decrease the amount why should they be allowed to increase the amount. It may only be a R10 in my case, but they have millions of customers so R10 for each of those customers means a lot of money for Vodacom.<br> My second issue is the early cancellation of my contract. While I am more than happy to pay the remaining balance for the hardware subsidiary included in my monthly subscription (R250 per month), why should I also pay 75% of the remaining fees for the fees for the actual contract? As per the CPA, I should be charged a reasonable penalty only!!!
