Unprofessional & ********* consultant

Good day

I was at the Vodacom Shop Zevenwacht Mall (Tygercellular Western Cape) yesterday (04 Aug 2020) around 18:00. I queued outside until I was at the door after 2 people in front of me. While standing, a coloured lady arrived and peeped inside the shop without intentions of queueing, I eventually gave her a direct look, which she responded to (out of guilt) and stood in the queue behind me.

A moment after, a coloured consultant lady (Melanique Welmse) came to the door with a happy face and asked for us to let her in as she was 'just coming to pick up her phone'. Out of ubuntu, I assumed picking up a phone means fetching a phone that is awaiting collection. As they entered, they were chatting like friends the entire time until the lady exited more than 9 minutes later. Before entering the shop, I calmly informed the lady that what she did was unprofessional as she prioritised a client based on their personal relations under the deception of urgency. She responded very rudely and condescendingly and mentioned that the lady was they in the morning thus had the right to let her in before us - which proved lack of professional ethics to me. I asked to speak to the manager, with an appalling attitude she referred me to the manager (forgot his name) who made me wait another +/- 10 mins (understandably maybe because he was focused on something more important than a client) - from my analysis she wouldn't have done the same to somebody of a different ethnicity (which is another highly sensitive issue).

When he finally got to me, he was not any helpful either as he also could not comprehend the issue of and importance of professional ethics in their shop. From my analysis, the manager does not seem to understand his management role or is overrun by his subordinates.

As a client, I would love for Vodacom to ensure that its employees at outlets ***n or franchises) values their clients on business grounds & equality not based on who knows who. I demand an official apology from the named persons and store.

P.S: Many clients could have fallen victim of such nonsensical customer service already at the named shop.

Hi Vodacom

Thanks for letting me know that the issue is being addressed with the concerned store. I am expecting a formal apology and to hear what has been done to prevent similar instances in future at the concerned store.

P.S: I received an sms that says "... the ticket with reference ***xx has been closed", I hope it's not referring to this issue, because we can't be sweeping such issues under the carpet.

I'll wait to hear from you.
