******** disconnection of cellphone?

Need some advice here. I went into our local Vodashop in Mthatha to upgrade my phone.I spoke to the consultant explaining my situation, we had taken over a business here 10 years ago, the phone is registered to the company but the contact details are of the previous owner who now lives in Australia and sails around the world. I gave her copies of the CK docs proving that I am the owner. She took copies of all relevant and said their are no problems she can do the upgrade and would order the new phone.This took about 1.5 hours. She phoned me 2 days later saying the phone had arrived. I went to collect the phone they transferred all data from my old phone to the new one. I was again in the shop for over 2.5 hours. App their network was down. She then said that I can take the phone and would again contact me to sign documents. The following day I had to go in to be told \quietly"she made a mistake I need to return the phone. Her boss the owner was present. I again had to explain the story. I sent the previous owner messages requesting a copy of his Id"
