UNHAPPY CUSTOMER

I've had numerous problems on different occasions mainly after I've reloaded my phone with airtime or data with Vodacom over the 15 years+ that I've been with them.

My complaint today is regarding my 5 gig data bundle which was purchased on the 4th December 2018. I don't use my data to watch YouTube or download things. I use it to video chat and check my social media accounts and email. After that, the data is switched off and I usually make sure to look at the phone settings to see that no other app has permission to use the mobile data. This morning I received this message from Vodacom

You have less than 2557MB remaining of your Vodacom Data balance on ********** 660. For balances or to buy bundles dial *135# or visit the My Vodacom App..

I tried calling them to report this issue but ,apparently I've reached my call limit to the call center and have to wait until January 2019.

The same thing happened last month in November. I purchased a 5 gig data bundle on the 5th November 2018, and after 2 or3 days, received a similar message . I reported the issue and my case was given to technicians. Eventually a week later I received a sms as well as all my data returned to me.

I feel dissatisfied with Vodacom because they have been doing this for years. I refuse to waste another cent on them unless this issue is resolved . I am definitely considering changing networks after this.

Dear Glynnis,
Thank you for the time and effort taken to voice your dissatisfaction to our office. It is with the cooperation and feedback from valued clients such as yourself that we are able to identify any areas of improvement within our organisation.  Our records reflect that a once-off 5GB goodwill gesture was credited to your number last month. The Onus remains with customers to monitor & manage their data usage (and may purchase additional bundles) via Vodacom Self-help Services in order to prevent exceeding Data Bundle Allocation. Consider installing a data manager on the device, such as My Data Manager & Vodacom App which can be downloaded from Play/App Store to manage and monitor your data usage. Kindly note to disable your data connection if not connected to the internet/social media Apps. When using WI-FI switch off Wi-Fi Assist (Apple device) or Smart Network Switch (Android device), this is to prevent your device connecting via data.

Regards,
Vodacom Consumer Website Team

Best regards,

I've done all of the above. But Vodacom still takes the data. I remember a few years back, I was using a 072 number, and every time I reloaded my airtime, Vodacom kept taking the money. I can't say it's been a pleasure being a loyal customer for close to 16 years. I will definitely be changing networks. Regards Miss Pangle
