Unhappiness with Vodacom

I have been using Vodacom for over 30 years. I have two Vodacom contracts, one with R200 air time and one with 5 gigs data. When I took out the R200 airtime contract, I chose that type of contract because I was renting a flat in premises with Telkom wireless internet - unlimited. I decided to take the contract as I would pay for data as and when required when I was away from the house. I do not work and I spend most of my time in the house. because the wireless internet from Telkom, which is landline based, was not great at times, which caused me to use my data and it was costing me a lot of money. I decided to get a wireless network contract which could save me from using data that I was paying huge amounts for on my phone. This was a great mistake as the network wireless signal in our area is very bad to non existent. My router sends a signal to my phone and laptop saying that I have access, but I do not have access for much of the day. when I do have access suddenly it losses signal when I am using it and my phone still tells me that I have access. I am constantly purchasing data at exorbitant rates because of this situation and my usage of data on my wireless network is left almost untouched. every month Vodacom removed unused data if I do not use it in that month, this is written into the contract, which I signed because I need access to wireless network. So Vodacom are forcing me to purchase data on my phone and they remove data which I have paid for. This system of legalised theft is unfair and I am extremely unhappy. I have logged a complaint today, not the first time. if I do not receive a refund of the unnecessary data that I have purchased, I will terminate my contracts and go to a service provider that is more user friendly. The other thing is that if you go to a Vodashop, you have to pay for assistance even if the reason is service provider related.

Hi Vodacom Customer Care, When do you think that my issues will be resolved. You stated above that I will be contacted in due course. The longer you take to contact me, the more I must pay for data, while I have over 9gigs on my data contract. I have placed my data sim card into my phone and now have to pay for airtime on my data contract. I have had to divert calls from my phone contract to my data contract to receive calls. all my contacts do not recognise my data number. The forwarded calls do not have the caller identity, so I do not know who is phoning me. If the matter is not settled, I will have to terminate my contracts which saddens me that this has reached this point after over 30 years of loyal support. Please let me know if you want me to cancel my contract because of lack of access to services that I am paying for.

I have just had a call from the signal department from Vodacom. They have told me that because I am getting a signal on my phone, that obviously the settings on the router are not correct, or the router is faulty. This is the second time recently that I have reported a problem. Last time I was told to take my router to the Vodacom shop to have it tested. When I got to the shopping centre, I switched the router on and amazingly I had a strong signal. I tested if my phone could pick up the wireless network, and it could. So I went home and it would not work. I have been advised to take my router back to the Vodacom shop to have it tested. I took a photo of my laptop which showed that I was connected to the system with internet access, but my Explorer said that I was not connected. I offered to e-mail it to him to show him that there was a problem. He told me that he was not interested in seeing the photo and that I must take the router in. I live not even 300m from the nearest Vodacom tower. I asked him if he could notify the responsible person in charge of billing to transfer data from my data contract to my phone contract so that I do not incur additional costs. He refused to do that for me. He stated that he was not willing to do that as it was not his responsibility and that I must phone customer care, who I reported the matter to in the first place. Mean while I have just lost 5 gigs of data on my data contract because it was unused and I have purchased about 3 gigs for my phone contract. I am sick and tired of being unfairly treated. I would use stronger language, but despite my rage, I have not. There is a song that states "Despite all the rage, I am still just a rat in the cage" That is how I feel
