Unfairly increased my contract price by 20%, 6 months into the contract!

I must say that I've been very annoyed and disappointed with Vodacom. I've been an MTN user for 16 years and have never had a problem. I decided to take out a new Vodacom home LTE contract in their Black Friday offers last year which offers 60GB of data for R299. Everything went fine until this month. I noticed that I've been charged R323 instead of R299.

I queried it with customer services which directed me to a clause in the contract that says that they can raise the price with 20 days notice via SMS. So I signed up for a contract with the purpose of locking my expenses but 6 months into the contract they raise the price by 20%. Which is a significant increase.

In my back and forth with customer services, I keep getting told they have a right to raise prices with 20 days notice. I feel like this isn't what I signed up for and what stops them from doing this to me again?

They have also just this week announced new data deals which offers 90 GB of data at R299. I have a really bitter taste in my mouth. I want to have nothing to do with Vodacom ever again but I'm locked into this contract for another 18 months. I'm exploring my legal options but I'm really ****ed off and I feel like I'm being taken advantage of.

I understand that Vodacom is within it's rights to raise the prices and change the way they bill. However, it is my intention to get out of this contract because of this. Hopefully without penalty and if that isn't possible. I will make sure I take my dissatisfaction to the public. All my friends, family and every South African should know that Vodacom can advertise a great deal in media. Have people sign up for it and then increase the price a few months into the contract effectively charging the consumer much higher price than what was advertised. Like I said, I've had an MTN contract for 16 years and not once did they increase my price a few months into the contract!
