Unfair Consumer Treatment

I cancelled my Vodacom contract (which I've had since 2006) on 25 May 2022 due to poor service delivery. Because I cancelled just short of my actual expiry date, I was provided with a premature cancellation quotation, which I paid on the same day. In the absence of any information to the contrary, I was under the impression that I am settled with Vodacom. However, barely 10 days after my cancellation and without receiving any further invoice or calls from Vodacom, I receive a letter from an attorney collections department informing me that I am in arrears with the astronomical amount of R435! What the hell Vodacom??? I've never even skipped a payment or paid late in 16 years...WHY WHY do I get handed over to an attorney for R435??? At least I no longer have any doubts about why I cancelled with you!

Thank you for taking the time to reply, albeit that you clearly avoid accountability for your actions/ mistake. Your quote 'terms and conditions' are ambiguous in terms of the information provided therein. In addition, I urge you to go listen to the conversation with the cancellations consultant and you will note that my misapprehension is not unfounded.

Notwithstanding, you are missing the point altogether. It is NOT about the amount that I was required to pay (which I have done already). I would have paid without any objection if you had sent me an invoice or called me. Why must I be handed over to an attorney for collections as if I somehow breached the agreement??? That is my contention!
